Maybe I should suspend judgement more?!
Last night I watched the very impressive Shai Agassi deliver a 20 minute presentation at TED. Garr Reynolds and Viv McWaters have already applauded Shai intheir blogs … but for me, until listening to Shai, the Electric Car has never really got me excited. So why the change in my attitude? Shai managed to tell a story about his vision … a story so compelling it left me wanting hear more and wanting to believe. Am I convinced that he is right? Nope! Do I believe every statistic he presented? No … I am always sceptical about the ‘numbers’. BUT, …

Hat Tip to Mark Earls over at Herd for this one … Anyone in the ‘sustainability’ field knows the ‘Use Less’ mantra when it comes to stuff we purchase and throw away. It’s important. Enter Christian Erickson, Chad Hancock and Greg Wurm (aka Zeus Jones). In January 2009, Zues Jones won the Minneapolis regional PhizzPop competition. As a result of winning, they moved on to the national final at SXSW in Austin to compete against the winners of the other regional competitions. Last week, the crew at Slideshare noticed that my online slideshows were being ‘noticed’ by more and more people. So they sent me this email titled “You’re a SlideShare Rockstar” … “Hi GeoffBrown3231, We’ve noticed that your slideshow on SlideShare has been getting a LOT of views in the last 24 hours. Great job … you must be doing something right. 😉 Why don’t you tweet or blog this? Use the hashtag #bestofslideshare so we can track the conversation. Congratulations – SlideShare Team” Well! With my ego well and truely ‘tickled’, I then noticed that heaps of people were ‘favourite-ing’ …

Here’s some stuff that caught me eye and kept me reading on other blogs … we20 on the SurfCoast Viv McWaters reports and reflects on a we20 gathering on Victoria’s surfcoast “With the news of the G20 meeting in London ringing in our ears, 15 of us met on Friday 3 April to have our own we20 meeting. We firstly explored our challenges and decided upon utilising this crisis to stimulate change in the world for better – particularly in relation to consumerism and new models of economy as our focus.” Heather Davis writes about the same we20 event here …

I’m on a roll! My last few posts have been inspired by my reading and reflections on Impro. Like any parent, I want my kids to thrive, be passionate and happy. I’d also like my kids to learn to improvise … or maybe slow down the un-learning process that happens as kids start to fear failure, judgement and criticism. I was playing with my eldest son last weekend … we were building structures with shapes. I noticed that Griff wasn’t happy with the end result. We were building structures slowly and we were ‘judging’ the building process with each move. …
