Alexander (aka The Chief Happiness Officer) has written here about a work policy that could change the world! It’s simple … when the surf’s up, any staff member can drop what they are doing and go for a surf. Straight from Alexander’s post, here’s how the founder of the company Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard summed it up in a previous interview: I’m a businessman, but I’m still going to do things on my own terms. I’m going to break a lot of rules, and we’re going to blur the distinction between work and play. So we have a policy here – …

Farewell Gran

For as long as I can remember, my Gran has been there. On Wednesday, and in the presence of her husband Jim, Gran took her final breath. She had suffered from dementia for more than 10 years and all she knew in the end, was Jim … her true love and life long partner. I don’t agree with any of these statements (of course!) and their impact is in the gut reaction they evoke. I think there is a workshop activity in this … small groups crafting ‘unreasonable’ statements to unnerve and disrupt the status quo in their world. My List – inspired, in part, by the things that I notice that leave me asking “Why!?!” It’s unreasonable to expect government agencies to launch a community …

At this precise moment … 12 years ago … Ingrid and I were married. We had known each other for 3 years and had travelled the world together. We had already shared experiences to fill a lifetime. This morning we recalled some of those moments and we feel blessed by the family, friends and sanctuary we have around around us. On the eve of our wedding, a song flowed from my heart … here is the chorus This chorus is about you, its written for you With a minor chord, I adore you … and I love you This chorus …
